Today marks the 20 year anniversary of Jim Henson’s passing. The Muppet Show was my favorite as a child. I didn’t always get the jokes but it still made me laugh. I’m a kid at heart and watching puppets still gives me the same thrill.
“It’s Not Easy Being Green” was one of my favorite songs. It spoke to me as I had felt different growing up a Chinese kid in an mostly white environment. Amazing how much Jim Henson understood a child’s angst of being different. Although I must admit that its still not easy being green even as I approach 40.
2010
First in a series
very day I will post one more letter. This is only an exercise but an important one. There is a goal, trust me.
At the end of this road, there might be a reward. Then again, there might only be failure. But what is important is that I follow through and keep the goal in mind.
It’s the itch that can’t be scratched. It’s the fly that buzzes. I will resist the temptation to swat, to scratch and to yell and scream.
This too shall pass.
Today I thank Jim Henson. He deserves to be on his own day.
